The office was eerily quiet as I walked towards Roxy's office. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my palms were sweaty. I had a feeling that this meeting wasn't going to go well. I knocked on the door and waited for her reply.
"Come in," she said, her voice cold and distant.
I opened the door and stepped inside, taking in the sight of my boss sitting behind her desk, looking every inch the dominant figure she was. She was wearing a black suit that hugged her curves perfectly, making her look powerful and intimidating.
"Have a seat," she said, gesturing towards a chair in front of her desk.
I sat down, my mind racing with possibilities of what I had done wrong. I couldn't shake the feeling that this was going to be a very unpleasant meeting.
"I've called you here today because I'm not happy with your performance," she began, her voice low and threatening.
My stomach dropped as she spoke. I knew I hadn't been doing a great job, but I had hoped she wouldn't notice.
"You've been slacking off, missing deadlines, and making mistakes," she continued, her eyes boring into me. "And quite frankly, I'm fed up with it."
I opened my mouth to apologize, but she held up her hand to silence me.
"Don't," she warned. "I think you need to understand the gravity of the situation."
My heart was pounding in my chest as she spoke. I couldn't imagine what kind of punishment she had in store for me.
"From now on," she said, leaning back in her chair and steepling her fingers together, "you will work twice as hard to make up for your lackluster efforts. And if you continue to underperform, well..."
She trailed off, leaving the threat hanging in the air. My stomach was churning with fear now. I knew whatever was coming next couldn't be good.
"That's all for now," she said, standing up and towering over me. "Get back to work, and don't let me down again."
I nodded, still unable to speak, and made my way out of her office, feeling small and insignificant. I couldn't help but wonder what she had in store for me. Whatever it was, I knew I was in deep trouble.
